Police charge bank robbery suspect

Police have charged a man in connection with two bank robberies that occurred on West Hundred Road in December 2013.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, a man approached a teller at the Virginia Commonwealth Bank branch at 4600 W. Hundred Road and passed a note demanding money. The suspect fled on foot with cash.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, a man approached a teller at the Bank of Virginia branch at 4023 W. Hundred Road and passed a note demanding money. The suspect fled on foot with cash.

On Dec. 31, police obtained warrants for Eric J. Shelton, 40, for robbery and wearing a mask in a public place in relation to each robbery. Shelton, of the 6800 block of Morning Dove Lane in Prince George, was arrested by Colonial Heights Police last month in connection with a bank robbery in that jurisdiction. Shelton is being held at Riverside Regional Jail.
