Police arrest fire truck larceny suspect

Police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of a fire truck from the 9700 block of Lori Lane on July 20, 2013.

The truck was spotted in a ditch near the intersection of Bundle and Woodpecker Roads at about 5:45 a.m. on July 20. Police soon determined the vehicle had been stolen from a county garage.

On Dec. 22, police arrested Kevin W. T. Burns, 27, in relation to the theft. Burns, of the 12500 block of Sandbag Road, has been charged with grand larceny.

“Chesterfield Fire and EMS truly appreciate the excellent police work from the men and women of the Chesterfield Police Department that worked so diligently over the past six months to make an arrest in the case involving one of our fire apparatus that had been stolen and crashed this past July 20,” said Lt. Jason Elmore, Chesterfield Fire and EMS. “We were pleased to hear that this case has now been closed.”
