Chester Family YMCA names new Executive Director

The YMCA of Greater Richmond announces that Chris Hughes is the new Executive Director of the Chester Family YMCA. In this role, he will be responsible for leading Chester’s philanthropic initiatives, volunteer and board development efforts and community partnerships. Hughes assumes his new responsibilities after his predecessor, Kathy Jentgen, was appointed Executive Director of the Midlothian Family YMCA.

Hughes is a veteran of the Y with over 12 years of experience. He most recently served as Senior Associate Director of the Banks D. Kerr YMCA and the YMCA at the Factory in Raleigh, N.C. In that role, he supervised wellness, aquatics, administration, membership and the operations department. In addition, he helped manage a $7 million combined branch budgets and provided leadership to the Major Gift Division of the Y’s Annual Campaign.

Hughes believes his success in Raleigh can be mirrored here given enough time to determine community needs and seek ways to grow and expand the Y’s program and services that are most needed throughout Chester.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for me. The Chester Y already plays an important role in the health and growth of the community. I look forward to continuing to serve and partner with other community organizations to increase the Y’s ability to assist those individuals and families who need our services most.”
