Police take back 270 pounds of unused medication

The Chesterfield County Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration and SAFE, Chesterfield’s substance abuse prevention coalition, helped residents safely dispose of several hundred pounds of expired and unneeded prescription and over-the-counter drugs Saturday.

Chesterfield County Police, as part of the DEA’s National Take-Back Initiative, hosted a Medication Take-Back on October 26 at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds. During the four-hour event, police, DEA agents and SAFE volunteers collected 270 pounds of unused, unwanted and potentially harmful drugs. A total of 113 residents dropped off medications.
