Support group helps seniors

The Chesterfield County Senior Advocate invites those who are raising grandchildren or relatives’ children to attend Grandparent Connection. This monthly support group meets the first Thursday of each month, 4:15 p.m. - 6 p.m., at the Chesterfield County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court building, 7000 Lucy Corr Blvd.
During the meeting on July 11, David Stitt, a licensed, certified professional counselor, and marriage and family therapist with Ironbridge Counseling, will discuss parentification, or the process of role reversal whereby children assume more of a caregiver role or fill an emotional void for a parent. Positive discipline also will be discussed.
This is a confidential, nonthreatening, nonjudgmental group. It is a safe place to share your experience and concerns or listen to others.
Free child care is available, and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 768-7878 or email Leidheiserd@chesterfield.gov.
