The Next Level: Coleman, Scales, Vaas

Sophomore at Virginia State University
Coleman started all 40 games he appeared in as a sophomore for the Trojans. The former Warrior complied a .302 batting average and drove in 27 runs, good to rank third on the team. The sports management major was a part of the Warriors teams that made three straight regional tournament apperances. Playing a mixture of second and third base, Coleman showed his versatilty in the Trojans lineup during the 2013 season.

Keaton Scales, Baseball
Thomas Dale High School
Freshman at Chowan University
Former Thomas Dale standout Keaton Scales stepped into a reserve/utility role for Chowan during the 2013 season, appearing in nine games, starting one. He collected his first collegiate hit on February 19 vs. Barton College and enjoyed his first multi-hit game vs. VU-Lynchburg on March 14. Scales will look to garner more playing time as a sophomore as the Hawks look to further their success in 2014.

Kyle Vaas, Baseball
Matoaca High School
Freshman at Norfolk State    
After a standout high school career in which he was selected as All-Central District as a junior and senior, to go with All-Central Region honorable mention honors as a senior, Vaas earned a starting role at third base for the Spartans. The psychology major finished the season with a .225 batting average with a home run and 12 RBI. Vaas enjoyed four multi-hit games, including a three hit performance against Delaware State on March 16, and also hit his first colleigate home run against the Hornets on April 6.
