Outstanding youth award winners announced

The winners of the Outstanding Youth Awards were announced recently at a ceremony at Thomas Dale High School. The adult winners were Tom Leahy and Roy Reynolds for providing a seamless transition to Cub Scout Troop 922 after their scout master left without notice.

The awards recognize young people and adults who have had a positive impact on their schools, communities, or in the lives of other individuals. Youths receive awards in the categories of courage, compassion and service. Forty-two youths and three adults were nominated this year. Youth winners for each category are as follows:

  • Service: Brittany Nicholson (Meadowbrook High School) and Ebony Clarke (Midlothian High School)
  • Courage: Gary Dorsey (L.C. Bird High School)
  • Compassion: Carly Childress (Bailey Bridge Middle School)
  • Leadership: Andrew Hart (Clover Hill High School) and Jordan Atkins, (James River High School)

The awards are sponsored by the Chesterfield County Department of Youth Planning and Development, the Youth Services Citizen Board and the Midlothian Kiwanis Club.
