ARGS students win awards in Poetry Society of Virginia Contest

The Appomattox Regional Governor’s School’s Literary Arts Department is pleased to announce that three of our students won awards and cash prizes in the annual Poetry Society of Virginia contest.  This is a prestigious national competition.

In the category of Poetry, Grades 9-10, Casmir Hodge (sophomore) received first place for her poem “Seeing Double” and Mary Chandler (sophomore) received second place for her poem, “Orange Glow.”

In the Jenkins Prize category, Mary Chandler (sophomore) won first place for her poem, “Iowan.”  Sydney Sylvester (sophomore) won second place for her poem, “i need you.”
