“Recent Work” by Mary Pedini will be the art exhibit at the Chester Library April 13-May 29. The Chesterfield Center for the Arts will hold an Artist’s Reception on Saturday, April 13, 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Maud Hurt meeting room of the Chester Library.
Virginia based artist Mary Pedini is a classically trained portrait artist who creates paintings that capture the likeness as well as the spirit of the individual. Her portraits are treasured by many and can be found in many private collections throughout the United States.
Mary’s formal training began as a fine arts major at Westfield State University and Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Mass. Upon receiving her B.F.A., she began working at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where she was influenced by the great works of many of America’s first impressionists. Upon moving to Richmond, Pedini continued her artistic journey in the field of graphic design working as an illustrator and designer while continuing her fine arts studies with workshops and classes by many nationally recognized artists. She has had her work exhibited at several art venues including Crossroads Gallery, Brazier Fine Art, Artspace Herndon and the Uptown Gallery. Mary is currently an exhibiting member of the Bon Air Artists Association and is also a member of the Portrait Society of America.
Her recent honors include: Finalist in “Expressions 2011” Regional portrait competition held at Artspace, Herdon; Juried member of “Plein Air Richmond 2012” held at Brazier Gallery Richmond. She currently resides in Midlothian with her husband and children.
