The Next Level: Hobbs, Doherty, Simmons

Thomas Dale High School
Junior at Christopher Newport University
An integral part of the Lady Knight’s program while at Thomas Dale, Hobbs has gone onto play for the Christopher Newport Captains. As a junior, the guard has seen action in every game coming off the bench, playing a pivotal reserve role. Hobbs is majoring in Chemistry. Christopher Newport is 22-2 this season and has won nine straight games as of press time.

L.C Bird High School
Senior at Hartford University
Doherty left her mark at Bird, graduating as the second all-time leading scorer with 1,615 points and the all-time leading rebounder with 1,083 rebounds while a Skyhawk. Now, she roams the hardwood for Hartford in the America East conference. As a junior, Doherty was a second team All-America East performer, as a senior she’s averaging seven points and five rebounds per game, including a season high 21 points against Quinnipiac on December 16. The 5-foot11-inch forward is majoring in bio-medical engineering.

Meadowbrook High School
Junior at Lynchburg College
Simmons, once a leader for the Monarchs on the hardwood is now coming off the bench as a reserve point guard for the Lynchburg College Hornets. The sports management major has made the most of his minutes, averaging five points and three assists per game in a reserve role. As of press time, the Hornets are fifth in the ODAC with a 9-7 conference record.
