The Next Level: Copeland, Frye, Johnson

After graduating from Chesterfield Community as the school’s all-time leading scorer, Copeland, a native of Queens, NY attended Charis Prep in Wilson, NC before attending Grambling State University. As a sophomore, Copeland has earned a starting role on a young team and scored 13 points against Alcorn State on February 4th. The Tigers have struggled this season, but with a young roster are looking to improve in 2013-2014.

ALYSSA FRYE
College of Charleston
Thomas Dale High School
Frye, who shared the Thomas Dale backcourt with Johnson is thriving this season as a sophomore at the College of Charleston, as two weeks ago she set a College of Charleston record with 67 three-pointers made in a season. Frye had a career high 27 points on January 28 vs Furman. Frye, who plays nearly every minute of every game for the Cougars is averaging 13 points per game this season.    

KA’LIA JOHNSON
Duke University
Thomas Dale High School
Johnson, also a sophomore has appeared in all 21 of #5 Duke’s games. In limited action off of the bench, Johnson has spent time at both guard positions and small forward. The former Knight’s best performance of the season came on December 6th vs. Georgia Tech where she  scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Duke’s (20-1) lone loss of the season came at the hands of #2 Connecticut.
