Fire and Crash incidents Jan. 29

Jan. 29 at 2:13 p.m., a motor vehicle crash was reported at Lakeview and Branders Bridge roads. A fire engine from Matoaca Volunteer Fire Dept. and an ambulance from Ettrick-Matoaca Volunteer Rescue Squad were dispatched along with county police. The crash is under investigation.

Jan. 29 at 2:08 p.m., a motor vehicle crash was reported at Centralia Road and Holly Trace Drive

Jan. 29 at 11:03 a.m., a brush fire was reported at Coalboro and Beach roads. A fire engine and brush truck were dispatched from Winterpock Fire Station on Beach Road to handle the emergency. The situation was soon under control.

Jan. 29 at 9:35 a.m., a fire was reported at 9701 Jefferson Davis Hwy at Holiday Trailer Park. Fire and medical personnel from Centralia, Dutch Gap and Bensley fire stations along with two battalion chiefs, a tactical safety officer and county police were dispatched. Crews arrived on scene and reported light smoke showing from the back of the mobile home. A pile of rubbish was discovered burning and firefighters blasted it with a deluge of water at 9:38 a.m.-three minutes after the call had been dispatched. The quick work of firefighters protected neighboring dwellings. The cause is under investigation.

Jan. 29 at 9:24 a.m., a motor vehicle crash was reported at Iron Bridge and Kingsland roads

Jan. 29 at 9:03 a.m., a motor vehicle crash was reported at 10800 Newbys Bridge Road between Lea Forest Trail and Qualla Road

Jan. 28 at 10:10 p.m., fire and medical personnel from Dutch Gap, Centralia and Bensley fire stations along with two battalion chiefs, a tactical safety officer and county police were dispatched to Proctor's Road for a possible house fire. Firefighters arrived on scene and discovered and overheated outlet. The situation was soon under control.
