Original choreography and energetic dancers highlight this year’s Senior Dance Showcase at the Specialty Center for Visual and Performing Arts at Thomas Dale High School.
The annual event exhibits the fantastic choreography of senior dance majors who are completing their fourth year in an exceptional program at the school’s Specialty Center.
Senior choreographers began this journey last spring, as juniors, with the submission of dance proposals. Each choreographer has carefully choreographed the dances, choosing the music, the dancers and the costumes while crafting the movement to create a particular message.
The seniors have worked together to design and market an amazing evening of dance, including contemporary pieces as well as a tap piece where the dancers create the music. Artistic Director, Abigail Agresta-Stratton said, “In this showcase, dancers and choreographers will exhibit technical expertise as well as innovative choreography. Seniors have had the unique opportunity to be involved in every aspect of this production.”
Specialty Center senior dancer and choreographer, Courtney Friedersdorf said, “Our show has an outstanding variety of styles and demonstrates our hard work and dedication to dance.”
The Senior Dance Showcase will take place on January 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. in Thomas Dale High School’s main auditorium. Tickets, available at the door, cost $6 for general admission, $4 for students and children 5 and under are free.
