DRIVER CHARGED IN THANKSGIVING HIT AND RUN

The Chesterfield County Police Department has charged a man in relation to a Thanksgiving Day hit and run crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

Roscoe Baker Jr., 58, of the 1500 block Armfield Road in Richmond, was struck by a vehicle while walking in the westbound lanes of Hull Street Road, near the intersection with Turner Road, shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22. Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Dec. 6, police released a description of the striking vehicle. Thanks to help from Crime Solvers, area media outlets and concerned citizens, police were able to identify Thomas R. Coleman, 33, as the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash.

Coleman, of the 2600 block of Jacobway Court in Chesterfield, was charged with felony hit and run. Coleman turned himself in at the Chesterfield County Jail on Thursday, Dec. 20.
