Police arrest man for cruelty to animals

Police have arrested a Chesterfield man for Cruelty to Animals that stemmed from an earlier report of neglect.

On October 11, Animal Control Units responded to the 9400 block of Lost Forest Drive to investigate the treatment and welfare of a dog. Upon arrival, the investigating units found that the animal had passed away earlier that day. The remains were taken to a veterinarian where a formal necropsy was performed. Based on the results from the report and consultation with the Chesterfield Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, a warrant was obtained for the dog’s owner.

Carroll Edward Dyke Sr., of the 9400 block of Lost Forest Drive, was arrested Tuesday Oct. 23, and charged with Cruelty to Animals, a class 1 misdemeanor. He will have a court date of December 19, 2012 in Chesterfield County General District Court at 1 p.m.
