Tammy Geddings, RN, wife of club member Linwood Gettings, was guest speaker at the Tuesday, Oct. 23 Chester Lions Club Dinner Meeting. Geddings informed the membership of the need to understand the symptoms of a heart attack and the need to obtain medical help especially during the first hour. She stressed diet, exercise, regular check-ups, weight control and use of prescribed medication to the membership attending.
Geddings graduated in 1995 from Medical College of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was a straight “A” student while at MCV and said she could not have entered nursing school without the academic scholarship of the Lions Club in Middlesex County.
Also during the meeting, Lion President Greg Bergeret inducted James Briggs, of Chester, into the Chester Lions Club. The Chester Lions Club has been serving the Chester and surrounding area for 73 years. It is a member of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organization in the world. Community members are welcome to visit meetings and are invited to learn about membership by calling membership chairman, Courtney Wells at 748-0003.
