Bird alums dominate rosters in state college Ultimate Frisbee action

L.C. Bird High served as the host of the UPA State Championships this weekend, giving a number of Bird alumni a chance to return for a reunion of sorts. There are currently 29 Bird graduates playing on their colleges’ Ultimate Frisbee teams; many of those alumni present to support the next generation of players competing for a state title.

Dale machine rolls on, adds two more District Titles

Thomas Dale continued its winning ways by sweeping both the boys’ and girls’ district track titles in last week’s meet at Prince George. Quintin Fulghum was named the meet’s top performer in sweeping the long and triple jumps, as well as the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes.

Hopkins Bobcats declared U.S. Finals East Champions

The recreational cheerleading program at the Hopkins “Bobcat” Athletic Association, Inc. (HBAA) capped a successful season by receiving numerous awards at “The US Finals – The Final Destination” national cheerleading competition in Virginia Beach on May 1-2, according to a press release from HBAA.

Credit cards stolen, used at stores

The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs the community’s help to solve a case in which a victim’s stolen credit card was used to make fraudulent purchases at two area stores after her purse was stolen from Cracker Barrel at 12401 Redwater Creek Road on Feb. 9.

Police Blotter: May 26, 2010

BROADWATER WY 5/20 Broadwater Townhouses. The victim’s residence was entered by unknown means. The interior of the residence was disturbed and a point of exit was obvious at the rear of the residence. At the time of the report, it was unknown whether anything had been stolen.

High-speed trains will be passing through Chester in a few years. They won’t stop here, but those who live along the CSX tracks will be impacted. What type of impact to expect is what representatives from Virginia’s Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) and the Southeast High Speed Rail Association (SHSRA) will discuss during a special meeting in Chester on Thursday, May 27 at the Chesterfield Center for the Arts Foundation headquarters on Centre Street, opposite the Chester Library, at 7 p.m.
