When ChesterFest returns to the Village Green next month, so too will a host of artisans and crafters that will tempt festival goers with their varied wares. Kay Braswell, of Chester, and Jean Alvis, of Quinton, Va., are two of the more than 140 vendors who will set up shop at ChesterFest this year.

Upon leaving his bedroom, he was confronted by the known suspect, who threatened to assault the victim with a bad. One of the subjects, accompanying the suspect, displayed a handgun and used it to carve graffiti on one of the walls.

It’s been a busy summer for the boys of Safety Word Orange. The Richmond-based band recently completed the third in a string of summer tours and performed at the Vans Warped Tour in Virginia Beach, according to drummer Travis King, a Chester native.
About half of Michale and Ellen Maxey’s six acres off Centralia Road is wetlands protected by a conservation easement, which keeps it in a natural state – a dense forest canopy shading several species of ferns, milkweed and calico aster. Great Branch Creek winds through the property, providing an easy water access for deer, beaver and geese.
At its Aug. 17 meeting, the Planning Commission will consider several options for extending the planning fee holiday that expired on June 30. At the Board of Supervisors June 23 meeting, Bob Schrum, the government relations chairman of the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, asked the supervisors to extend the fee holiday.
