School supplies are an expense at the beginning of each school year. This Friday through Sunday, parents will save 5 percent on school supplies and clothing thanks to the fifth annual Virginia Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday.
As the start of the new school year creeps closer, Chesterfield’s newest students – and their parents – are preparing to make the jump from home or preschool to kindergarten.
Zachary Waller, a student at L.C. Bird High School in Chesterfield, was one of 48 rising high school seniors from across the state selected to take part in the Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS) academy, according to a press release.
Berkley Hawkins, a 2010 graduate of Trinity Episcopal, will continue his college career at Virginia Military Institute. Although recruited as a catcher, Hawkins will play behind senior Alex Haitsuka, who is considered a professional prospect. The Keydet’s covet Hawkins’ bat and may move him to third base while he waits his turn behind the plate.
