Seven Chesterfield County Public Schools alumni were recently honored by the Chesterfield Public Education Foundation for their outstanding accomplishments and achievements.
No doorbuster deals were required for the L.C. Bird High School Skyhawks Friday. While everyone was out shopping, they were thinking of how to beat Hermitage to advance to the Division 6 State Tournament and be crowned Regional Champions for the first time since 2005, when they beat Meadowbrook, 19-13.

A senior from Meadowbrook, Graves has anchored a young defensive line for the Hokies. After a disappointing 0-2 start, Graves has led Tech to 10 straight wins and a berth in the ACC Championship game, where Tech will face Florida State. Graves has started all 12 games and has recorded 34 tackles. A true scholar-athlete, he is presently working on his third degree.

MARINA DR 11/26 Falling Creek Apartments. Entry to the vacant apartment was gained by breaking out the glass in the rear sliding patio doors. Faucets throughout the apartment were turned on, with the drains plugged, causing major water damage to the interior.
This week, the Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs the community’s help to solve an unusual hit-and-run case that occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 14.

Eric McBride, an LC Bird graduate, has been making news on the defensive side of the Richmond Spiders since 2007. He finished out his season as the 2010 CAA Football Co-defensive Player of the Year averaging 10.7 tackles, 54 starts. Three time he was named first team all-CAA Football. He's also a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award That award is coveted by the top defensive players in the FCS (Football Championship Subdivison). The 6'-2" 232 pound McBride was second on The University of Richmond's list of career tackles.
While some have things to be thankful for every day, there are others who have to search a little harder for the special things in their lives. A safe and secure environment seems second nature, but sometimes even those seemingly simple interests can be clotted with challenges.
