Several local residents have been recognized for their academic achievements at colleges throughout Virginia.
Several area schools were among the 26 Chesterfield schools that were recently honored with Virginia Index of Performance awards, according to information from the school system.
Among the 13 Chesterfield schools that earned the Board of Education Excellence Award were: Bensley Elementary, Beulah Elementary and Gates Elementary.
A Chester native was among several area students at Hampden-Sydney College who have been recognized as outstanding campus leaders in the 2011 edition of Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges, according to a press release from the school.
