Carver girls win first county championship

In a first for Carver Middle School, the girls track team sped to the County Track Championship Friday afternoon at Manchester High School. The Cougars were led by Deja Powell’s victories in the 100 and 200, while Ainsley Greenwald took the 800 in a new school record time of 2:30.

Golfing for a cause

The Jamestown 4-H Education Center is partnering with the Kiwanis Club of Toano for their fifth annual golf tournament. The tournament is scheduled for Friday, May 18, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Fort Lee lifts suspension on bow hunting

Fort Lee Garrison Commander Col. Rodney Edge, has authorized hunting on post with bows only, effective Friday, following last month’s suspension of all hunting activity for an ongoing safety study.

Police have arrested a second man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday, April 17, in the 3400 block of Boisseau Street.

Police seek shooting suspects

Police are seeking three men who attempted to rob and ultimately shot a man in the 14500 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.

JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY 4/20 Victim was leaving the store when she was approached by unknown suspect armed with a knife. The victim was shoved to the ground and her purse was stolen. The suspect fled on foot.
