Kicking off the Chesterfield County Public Library’s Black History Month Program, 2012, attendees for the first program at the Chester Library witnessed intense emotion and enthusiasm from the Virginia State University’s Sankofa Dance Theatre group.
The Chesterfield Board of Supervisors (BOS) last week voted 4-1 to send the countywide draft comprehensive plan back to the planning commission. That means that the county planning staff will be constructing a new plan for the commission’s review in July before its trip back to the board for consideration on Oct. 10 this year.

School Board work sessions often assume the tone of a rather tedious grad school seminar. Thomas Dale high school golfer Michaela Conway has committed to Lincoln-Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. The senior chose Lincoln-Memorial over West Virginia Wesleyan University.
Local students attending Hampden-Sydney College were named to the Dean’s List for the Fall semester of the 2011-2012 academic year. To earn this distinction, students must achieve at least a 3.3 semester grade point average out of a possible 4.0.
