CCLL gets support from dealership on opening day

Central Chesterfield Little League celebrated their opening games at Harry G. Daniels Park at Ironbridge last Saturday. Special guests, Jay Burchell of Heritage Chevrolet and Congressman Randy Forbes joined over 2,000 young players and their families at the event to kick-off their spring season.

10,000 Meals: Area church members combine efforts to ‘Stop Hunger Now’

A whole lot of clattering and chattering was coming out of The New Covenant Presbyterian Church a couple of Saturdays ago when over 70 volunteers representing six churches began scooping, weighing, packaging and boxing 10,000 dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals in less than two hours for a Stop Hunger Now event.

JTCC gets a new safer entrance, exit

At the end of Weir Road, adjacent to Target and CVS Pharmacy off Jefferson Davis Highway, is a narrow strip of orange Virginia clay leading into the woods. Heavy equipment blocks the entrance and concrete pipes litter the passage.

Planning commission digs into revised comprehensive plan

The Chesterfield County Planning Commission has a relatively short time to complete their assigned task of reworking the countywide comprehensive plan. Their work on the new plan began last week, and they have until August 21, 2012 to hand it back to the Board of Supervisors.
