Chester resident Sheeri Khokhar graduated from Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions with a Master of Science. More than 5,000 students received degrees from Drexel this year at the University’s 125th Commencement.
Noelle Karavis, of Chester, was among more than 500 students at Eastern Oregon University named to the dean’s list for the 2012 spring term. To qualify, students must achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.

Even when Gerard Johnson was an eighth-grader, Meadowbrook head coach Troy Taylor knew that the current senior quarterback would be a special player. The three-year varsity player gained the starting quarterback position as a sophomore and blossomed in his junior season, throwing for 1,299 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Alarms sounded at 1:35 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, for a smoke smell in a residence in the 2100 block of E. Hundred Road. A fire engine from River’s Bend was soon on the way. Upon arrival the firefighters discovered a light haze of smoke and requested a full assignment of crews.
