Chesterfield Dems invite public to meeting, FeedMore food drive

Chesterfield County Democratic Committee Meeting and Food Drive to Benefit FeedMore will be held Wednesday, June 4 at Falling Creek Middle School- light refreshments and social at 6:45, program at 7 p.m.

The Elizabeth Davis Advanced Band received straight superior ratings this season. Not only did each of the four judges at the 2014 State Assessment at Goochland High School award them the highest rating, but so did all of the college band directors as judges

Back-to-back titles for Matoaca softball

Softball head coach Scott Driskill came to Matoaca in 1991, but didn’t start coaching softball until 2003. Simply put, the Matoaca softball program wasn’t where it is today. The Thomas Dales, Dinwiddies and Prince Georges of the world dominated the Central District.

Warriors baseball win second straight baseball championship

Another season passes, and so does another successful campaign for Matoaca baseball. They cruised to defeat L.C. Bird and then Prince George in the Conference 12 championship game 6-0 to win their second straight district/conference championship, the first under new head coach Tim Haynes.

The Next Level: Lockett, Jordan, Lodge

After a great career at Matoaca Lockett, one of the team’s offensive threats, settled right into a platoon/starting role with the Yellow Jackets at third base. On the season, she hit .275 with a home run and seven RBI.

Chester native Lacey Waldrop earns National Player of the Year honors

Lacey Waldrop and the Florida State Seminoles said goodbye to the 2014 season after advancing to the softball College World Series for the first time since 2004. They dropped decisions to No.1 Oregon and No.13 Baylor to be eliminated from the postseason.

Knights, Monarchs advance to regionals

Both Meadowbrook boys soccer and Thomas Dale girls soccer fell in their respective conference finals but advanced to their respective regional tournaments.
