Governor Bob McDonnell announced that the Virginia Board of Education unanimously approved an A-F grading system that will assign letter grades to schools based on the percentages of students demonstrating proficiency, academic growth and college and career readiness.

The Thomas Dale High School Competition Cheering Squad is headed to VHSL State Competition. The squad took 4th place at a competitive 6A South regional competition Saturday, in Virginia Beach. The team will compete in the state competition on Nov. 9 at the Siegel Center in Richmond.
Virginia State University (VSU) recently hosted 20 middle and high school students and six teachers from across Southside and Hampton Roads Virginia. The group explored the science of nanotechnology.
Tim Byrne not only speaks the language of teens, but relates his message of personal experience through a current teenage pastime – skateboarding. A world-renown skateboarder, Byrne, took his talent and showmanship last week to Carver Middle, Elizabeth Davis and Matoaca High schools.
