Riley David Wilson of Chester has been named to the Dean’s List at Clemson University for the spring 2012 semester. Wilson is majoring in Chemical Engineering. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Ms. Karmeshia Tuck has been crowned 2012-2013 Miss Virginia State University. Ms. Tuck, a rising senior and honors student from Roxboro, N.C., is a computer information systems major and 2009 graduate of Person High School.
Universities honor Chesterfield students for academic achievement
The Chesterfield County Fair Association is pleased to announce the presentation of four $1000 scholarships to members of the Class of 2012. Our winners this year represent four different high schools and exhibit a diverse range of abilities and pursuits.
Chesterfield Community High School seniors opened a new chapter in their lives last Friday, June 8 when they were honored as high school graduates. The class of 141 students was led by Julia Fournier,Valedictorian, and Jeri Absher, Salutatorian.
Carlton St. Clair Hassell, Jr., L. C. Bird High School senior class president, summed up his classmates best while putting his sunglasses on saying, “Our future is so bright we will need sunglasses to see it.” Hassell welcomed graduates, families and guest during the Thirty-Third Commencement Exercises for the 2012 graduating class last Friday, June 8, at 2:30 p.m., in the Stuart C. Siegel Center at Virginia Commonwealth University.
The top of the Class of 2012 for Matoaca High School was so close that determination was not made until after the programs had been printed. The Matoaca High School Commencement Exercises were held Monday, June 11 at 10 a.m. in the Verizon Wireless Arena Stuart C. Siegel Center at Virginia Commonwealth University.
