Chester resident Bailey Galstan earned his Eagle Scout award on Sunday, June 5, 2011 – the highest award in the Boy Scouts of America – at a ceremony at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chester.
Loren Favale, of Chester, was one of 165 students recently named to the Dean’s List at Emory and Henry College for the spring 2011 semester.
Cousins Daniel and Chris Singleton are currently at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., completing their advanced training. Daniel, 23, a U.S. Marine, graduated from Parris Island, S.C., February 25 of this year.
Twenty of Meadowbrook High School’s senior-athletes met in the school’s lecture hall before the close of the school year to announce the next step in their careers as student-athletes, some signing their official letters of intent to play athletics at the next level.
The annual Matoaca High School Career Fair that was held on Wednesday, April 27, and Thursday, April 28, was a great success, according to the school.
Kristia, who does not own driver’s permit, let alone a driver’s license, first heard about the idea of going off to college from her parents on a family vacation last year. “We threw the ball in her court and she ran with it,” said her mother, Kelly Vasiloff, a preschool teacher at Chester Baptist.
Tyler Coleman, a graduating senior at Matoaca H.S., was honored with an award for 13 years of perfect attendance.
