An unexpected furlough allows Capt. in Air Force to surprise his twins

The war officially ended in Iraq last week with most of the troops home for Christmas, but for the troops in Afghanistan, the war continues and deployment is longer than six months.

Sgt. Glidden arrives home early and surprises his children at Curtis

Sgt. Jason Glidden, 36, was originally set for a one year deployment in Iraq, leaving behind a heavyhearted family knowing dad would miss Christmas. Last Tuesday, his three children were given a Christmas to remember; dad came home early.

Build a theater, educate a village

There we stood in the clearing dust, face to face with a crowd of complete strangers who had staged a surprise party for us. In all the clamor of the bongo drums, vocal chants, and wooden xylophones, we didn’t notice the drone of the engine driving away, not to pick us up again for two years.

On Thursday, December 1, Chesterfield 4-H hosted its annual Achievement Night at L.C. Bird High School to celebrate the outstanding efforts and accomplishments of the 4-H’ers. It was a very special event for the youth and the dedicated adult volunteers who make 4-H possible.

Christmas Mother fundraiser a rousing success

On Saturday, Nov. 12, three hundred guests attended the fifth annual Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother auction at the Cultural Center of India. They were welcomed with the music of the Jack-Win-TET and the beautiful seasonal table decorations by Petals and Bows.
