Stuff the Truck With Food event benefitting the Colonial Heights Food Pantry will take place Friday, June 22 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the C & F Bank located at 4820 W. Hundred Rd. Participating with C & F Bank are Southside Business Resources, the South of the James Browns Backers and Dawgbone Banners and Signs, Inc. Davis Off Road will be providing the trucks and Steve Brooks with Splashmusic will be entertaining.
The Chesterfield County Fair is accepting applications for contestants for the Miss Chesterfield County Fair Pageant, to be held on Monday, Aug. 27, for ages 17-21. New this year are our Princess Pageants,to be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, for ages 3-5, 6-9, 10-12 and 13-16.
They’ve answered phones and mentored kids, tutored adults for the GED, prepared taxes and shuttled clients to appointments. Volunteers in the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services perform a variety of duties that help the agency serve those in need.
A very short break in the clouds just before sunset on June 5 allowed Erin, Kathy and Brad Peebles to view the planet Venus as it moved between the Earth and the Sun. For safe viewing Brad Peebles adapted his bird spotting scope to project an image of the sun on a sheet of cardboard mounted behind the eyepiece of the scope.

It’s not your same old stuffy library anymore. Chesterfield libraries have come alive with programs for kids, teens and adults alike. “There’s no more shh,” said Carolyn Sears, of Chesterfield’s library department.
A Summer Invitational Juried All-Media Show will take place on Friday, June 15. The show benefits the Chesterfield Center for the Arts Foundation. The exhibit will be held in the Village Hall Gallery located at 11801 Centre St., Chester.
