Chesterfield resident, Kim Young, had a chance meeting one day with a member of a small railroad club back in 2008 that has made him a devotee of the Richmond Railroad Museum.
In a charter celebration held in June LaSertoma International welcomed their newest chapter into the organization, Helping Hands of Tomorrow (HHOT), a youth volunteer service organization out of Chester.
Master Food Volunteer training will be conducted for those who love cooking, learning about nutrition and wellness, and are interested in helping others. This training is being held on four Tuesdays, Sept. 18 – Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Virginia State University Virginia Cooperative Extension building.
On July 4, Stoney Glen Subdivision held it’s 22nd Annual July 4th Parade. This tradition is led by our community firefighters, ends at the neighborhood pool and carries on throughout the day with games and fun for the entire family.
Evan Nunery, a 2009 Thomas Dale High School graduate of the Specialty Center of Visual and Performing Arts music program, recently made his opera debut in Aaron Copeland’s neoclassical opera “The Tenderland” during the inaugural season of the Southwest Virginia Summer Opera Company.

The last Mormon pioneer company crossed miles of treacherous wilderness heading west 143 years ago. Commemorating their faith and sacrifices, nearly 300 teenagers from 30 congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints embarked upon similar treks this summer.
