There is a fresh new hot spot for dining in Chester. Sapori Ristorante Italiano is not your average mom-and-pop pizza and pasta eatery. The Amato family, originally of Carini, Sicily, relocated to Chester Village in Festival Park to open Sapori, a modern Italian-American restaurant full to the brim with personality.

The first week in May, 147 years ago, brought Union troops on the ground to Chesterfield. The Civil War had arrived. On May 4, 1864, General Ulysses S. Grant put his grand campaign into motion. While sending a diversion brigade to West Point, Major General Benjamin F. Butler and 40,000 troops steamed their way up the James River.
One day in early April, Carie Keller’s cell phone rang from the Bronx; it was her aunt, telling her about the hottest news in the most recent People magazine. Elizabeth Taylor, pictured on the cover, had passed. The legendary magazine had bid its farewell to the Hollywood goddess.
