City Point Cemetery receive wreaths from Enon car club

It was a solemn occasion, but filled with enthusiasm, compassion and respect when the Oldies But Goodies Classic Cruizers (OBGCC) Enon based car club, joined forces with the American Legion, the Blue Knights (law enforcement officer motorcycle organization), the Combat Vet Association and others, on Dec. 15, at a wreath laying event.

White House gleans from SAFE’s successes

The White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy has selected Substance Abuse Free Environment Inc., or SAFE, to be evaluated to determine why it is one of the most effective nonprofits in the nation.

Families First celebrates families during the holidays

‘Tis the season to be jolly! And jolly they were when 86 participants of the Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Families First gathered for a holiday party on Dec. 7 at the Bensley Community Center.

Hope for Christmas

At first glance, Jonny Maltempi looks and acts like your typical 16-year-old. He is looking forward to hanging out with his family and friends and hoping for a few new video games for Christmas. He is smiling and laughing and the bold words, Happy, Happy, Happy, are splashed across his t-shirt.

VA Waste Services: waste not want not

Piles of cardboard, plastic bottles and aluminum cans clutter a huge open-sided warehouse on the grounds of Chesterfield’s largest landfill. These items, in addition to various metals, paper and glass are making their way to be recycled as they travel along conveyers at Virginia Waste Services’s (VWS) The Recycle Center.
