Wild Sound Unlimited to reunite in Petersburg after 20 years

After nearly 20 years, the members of Wild Sound Unlimited will return to the stage together for two shows in Petersburg. The band got started in the Tri-Cities area in late 1966 when drummer Marvin Faison and other band members started taking band classes at Petersburg High School, Faison said. Most of the members grew up in the area of Columbia Road and Bellevue Avenue, he said.

Relay for Life raises thousands for charity

The Courthouse Relay for Life at L.C. Bird High School last weekend raised more than $110,000 for the American Cancer Society and had more than 1,000 registered participants.

Local group runs for autism charity

Bright and early on Saturday, May 29, volunteer board members of Chesterfield-based UniqueKids once again set up their “vendor” table for the annual 5k to benefit the Autism Society of America Central Virginia, according to information from board member Mark Coleman.

4-H Campers invites you for a game of golf

The Jamestown 4-H Educational Center is sponsoring a “Send A Kit to Camp” and “Keep the Campfires Burning” golf tournament. The tournament will take place at the Williamsburg National Golf Club – Jamestown course located at 3700 Centerville Road in Williamsburg on Friday, June 18, with a Captains Choice Tee off at 1 p.m.
