Zach Perkins: To Nashville

In Chesterfield, he’s a driver for OfficeMax, but in Nashville, Zach Perkins is a true-blue country music singer. A resident of Matoaca, Perkins, 25, signed a recording contract in March with Lamon Records, an independent label, jumpstarting the path he had been dreaming of for the past few years.

14 years and counting

This week Village News begins a new year, Volume XIV No. 1. It is hard to believe time has passed so quickly and it has been 14 years since the first issue. We are still here because of this loyal community and the strong support from the businesses that allow us to push their messages.

ChesterFest celebrates 10th year, best yet

ChesterFest has been scheduled for Sept. 24 this year. A beautiful Saturday is expected say ChesterFest organizers. In addition to the ChesterFest favorites, a number of exciting enhancements are planned. “We want this to be an extra special Fest this year,” said Elliott Fausz, ChesterFest co-organizer.

County receives land for community use

The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation, along with the Capital Region Land Conservancy (CRLC), is pleased to announce the donation of a 113-acre parcel of land to the county from the estate of Paul and Anna Atkins.

Chester Wind Symphony to play at county fair Sept. 3

Local youth completes project for Eagle badge

Boy Scout John Proffer, along with some recruited help, used his free time this summer to build benches for his Eagle Scout project, the highest rank a scout can have. A member of Boy Scout Troop 2815 based out of Chester United Methodist Church, Proffer has been a scout since the first grade.

Chester Performing Arts Studio to welcome new instructors

Two new instructors will join the staff at Chester Performing Arts Studio (CPAS) this year: Jenna McClintock and Sarah Ruppel both bring their extensive experience as professional ballerinas and ballet instructors.
