The suspense, romance and vampires from the earliest days of cinema to the present mesmerized their way into our cinematic vocabulary. “Twisted Dream Dead Moon” by local author, Chelsea Raine, is coming to life in a movie short. Raine has written a screenplay of her first novel and hopes it will hit the big screen or TV. But for now, she will release it on YouTube this fall.
Boy Scout Troop 2877 digs to help the Chester community, this time at the Chester Village Green. Boys and adults from Troop 2877, chartered by Chester Presbyterian Church, dug a three foot diameter by four feet and ten inches deep hole to hold the new flag pole for the Chester Village Green.
The Rotary Club of Chester donated $1,000 to Boy Scout Troop 819 of Chester on June 6. Berkeley Galstan, the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, accepted the check from his father, Chester Rotary Club member, Dr. Sam Galstan, who is also the Charter Organization Representative of Troop 819.
The Cultural Center of India hosted a few thousand guests over the weekend for the 9th Annual Taste of India. Cultural Director Bina Shah and associate directors Deepali Keskar and Simran Chiplunkar introduced the entertainment that included 34 acts of folk dances and Bollywood Fusion performed by children, teens and adults.
Last Saturday, the Citie of Henricus, one of America’s oldest settlements, once again hosted The Henricus Dauber Dash. This 5-mile run through the Henricus Historical Park isn’t how most people would spend their weekend getting exercise. Obstacles were spread throughout the course.
On March 30, 2012, Governor McDonnell signed into law legislation from the 2012 session of the Virginia General Assembly that created the Beehive Grant Fund. Grants from the fund, which will be administered by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), will be available after January 1, 2013.
