Soldiers help out at Harrowgate Elementary graduation ceremony

The fifth-grade graduation ceremony at Harrowgate Elementary School was held on Thursday, June 13. A large crowd of parents and family members attended the ceremony and were pleasantly surprised to find soldiers from Ft. Lee assisting with the program.

Former TDHS Valedictorian receives doctorate

Neal Philip Richardson was valedictorian of the Thomas Dale High School Class of 2000 and 2004 graduate of Wake Forest University. He received his doctorate in Political Science from University of California, Berkeley on May 20, 2013.

Kristopher Ryan Liss earns Eagle Scout rank

In 2003, Kristopher Ryan Liss began his journey through Scouting as a Tiger with Cub Scout Pack 2819 and in 2007 he earned his religious award. In February 2008 he achieved the Arrow of Light award, the highest award in Cub Scouts. Liss crossed over to Troop 2837 in February 2008 and has served in many different leadership roles while in the Troop.

Box Tops and Campbell’s labels

During last year’s summer break, Harrowgate Elementary first-grade student Mattingly Green, and kindergarten student, Alexa Malick, set out to collect as many Box Tops and Campbell’s soup labels as possible. Collecting throughout this school year, their final year-end count was a total of 2,054; Green collecting 1,033 and Malick, collecting 1,021.

Thomas Dale athletics to hold summer camps

For the 17th year, Thomas Dale’s will hold a basketball camp for youth ages seven to 18. The camp will run from June 17-20, 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. The purpose of the camp is to teach the fundamentals of the game of basketball, increase knowledge of the game and have fun.

Bermuda District community meeting

Dorothy Jaeckle, Bermuda District Supervisor and Carrie Coyner, Bermuda District School Board Member, will conduct a community meeting to discuss state and Federal mandates and their impacts imposed on our schools.
